"Autumn Rain"

An autumn rain came and went,
 but the stabbing pain
 was not so easily shaken

His eyes stung with blood red tears,
as he watched leaves flitter helplessly
 to the wet grass

He drew in a penetrating breath
but couldn't seem to fill his lungs
 or free his aching mind

She, like the leaves, is without life.

He shut his eyes tightly
 hoping to release her
Sorrow rushed back to chase her fading light

He turned and walked away from the window
 leaving behind the pain

The memories blew forever to the back of his mind,
as the leaves blew forever in circles on the ground.
